After struggling with various eating disorders, Alex transformed her beauty and fashion blog to a digital safe-space to share her personal struggles in order to help others.
Throughout her journey on social media, Alex has opened up many conversations surrounding eating disorders, as well as weight stigma and diet culture. Since her recovery, Alex is dedicated to providing supportive, open and honest conversations for anyone who is experiencing an eating disorder or has self-confidence issues. Alex’s journey has now led her to be ardently anti-diet, believing that cultural and societal pressures are the root of body image issues. Therefore, she is incredibly passionate about using her platform to encourage change and truly make a difference. Her inspiring honesty and outlook has provided her with the opportunity to work with incredible brands which include LookFantastic, Fabletics and Gillette.
In her professional life, Alex has a strong background in journalism, having previously been the Beauty and Fashion Editor for Hello Mag! She has also created a diverse Facebook community where members share their stories without judgement, and receive unconditional support. To top it all off, her new podcast, ‘The Light Show’, features a series of brave guests, and explores their personal body image stories.
And as of recently Alex Light along with her co host Em Clarkson created a joint podcast under the name ‘Should I Delete That?’ talking all about their presence on social media and body confidence. The duo have now successfully reached the #1 spot in the UK Apple Podcast charts.
